Studebaker's 1953 line-up had caused a sensation. Loewy's wonderful coupes would influence car design the world over. For 1954 changes were limited to minor trim changes and the main news was the addition of the Conestoga station wagon, the first such model from the company since before the war. 1954 was the year in which Studebaker merged with Packard. No-one foresaw that Packard would last a mere four years longer, and Studebaker would also cease to exist in another twelve. The 1953-54 Studebaker Coupes are a fitting legacy to the company's early '50s heyday.
