Mr. Darren has finished the BRK 153 and is polishing it to remove any unwanted particles before Neil makes a mould.
-
PATTERN MAKING/MOULD FIXING - DARREN
The roof piece mould for the BC 011 has a small pip on it. This is causing every casting from that cavity to have a small hole in it.
Not Good, so Darren is using a small grinding bit to gently buff the mould smooth again.

SPINCAST MACHINE REPAIR: Lesson 7 - Shaft Replacement.
This is the inside of a casting machine.
We've mentioned before how simple they are.....
.........
........
...just like the guys that operate them!!!!!
-
SPINCAST ANATOMY
Right, The mould is placed in the top of the machine and the air ram (1) applies presure through the shaft (3 - missing from the pic) to keep the two halves of the mould together.
The motor (2) spins the shaft (3) which spins the actual mould.
That's it!!
'Presure to keep the mould together and some rotation'
Parts (4) are pressure monitors, timers, circuits for the display etc. but nothing hugely technical.
It's very simple, robust and straight forward.
Like Tim!
